December 10, 2009 MVCI has been selected to receive a Best of 09 Award from Southwest Contractor Magazine. The project was the SR 51 to SR101L HOV lane extension covering 7 miles of freeway-to-freeway HOV ramp connectors. A design by Stanley Consultants was used to reduce a previously designed fly-over connector bridge length by 33% and reduced cost by $5.5 million. Design and construction was greatly simplified by using three nearly identical post-tensioned straddle bents to carry the bridges over the freeway. Pedestals constructed atop the straddle bents transfer just one superstructure load to the superstructure. The other superstructures do not touch. This separation technique is the first on of its kind in Arizona. Project owner is Arizona Dept. of Transportation.

Harry has been an integral member of the Arizona team and has managed numerous heavy highway projects over the past decade. Additionally, MVCI handed out 5 year anniversary certificates to Concrete Superintendant Gary Holloway and Carpenter Jose Chavarria.
